After brunch with Luswin, the Boy in the Checkered Shirt and I wandered around the East Village. The sun continued to beat down on us. As he looked at eyeglass frames in Moscot's, I soaked up their chilling AC and used his iPhone to search nearby cinemas. We headed over to Sunshine Cinema and took in a showing of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Nice flick, but I clearly did not do my homework - it was in Swedish and was rather graphic with violence and sex.
After we went to Cafe Orlin for two cappuccinos and a slice of their carrot cake.

Flea Market Cafe
Saturday, which was showing signs of being the hottest day in NYC over the last 100 years, found us heading to Alphabet City to meet Luswin for brunch at this French cafe. Overlooking Tompkins Square Park, symbolic of the neighborhood's gentrification from it's 1980s heroin chic homeless population, the cafe was happily air-conditioned. It was nearly empty when we arrived, but filled up as the meal progressed.
Luswin ordered the Eggs Florentine, the Boy in the Checkered Shirt had the Eggs Norvegienne, and I enjoyed a fruit and granola bowl with yogurt. All of us shared a pain aux raisins.

The Weekend
Saturday and Sunday the Boy in the Checkered Shirt and I were at the Musilac Festival in Aix-les-Bains, France. The White Lies was just one of the many amazing bands that performed at this three day festival.
Other groups include Wax Tailor, Mika, Florence and the Machine, Paul Weller, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Indochine.

Qi
I spent the day helping Luswin move into a new apartment. Afterwards we did some shopping for his place and for my upcoming trip. On our way we bumped into Omar. The three of us wandered to this new Asian-fusion restaurant for a bite. Omar had already eaten so he enjoyed a Thai iced tea. Luswin had a pile of chicken fried rice and I ordered a glass of a Portuguese wine and a duck salad with some spring rolls.
