Northeast Kingdom

When my mom visited last November we went to this hipster restaurant twice because she liked the dinner menu so much.  The Boy in the Checkered Shirt and I wandered over on Sunday to check out the brunch.  There was a 30 minute wait for a table, which is reasonable, and we were directed to wait in the restaurant's basement den. We asked if we could have coffee while we waited and while we were told that we could, we were also told that it would be faster if we went down two doors to a coffee shop and bought coffee there and brought it back.  Perhaps true, we were slightly nonplussed.

But we did as the waitress suggested and stepped down to the Wyckoff Star. Returning to the Northeast Kingdom with our coffees we headed down stairs to the den and waited.  In short order a table was ready.  The Boy ordered eggs scrambled with vegetables and I had the baked eggs.  The meal was good, but the waitress got on my nerves as she explained ad nauseam why our meals took longer to prepare than every other diner seated within view.

We wandered around the neighborhood afterwards, visiting a thrift shop and a slaughterhouse with some very depressed looking chickens in the lobby.
